Let's get started!

We have been working on the creation of Gobe Insights for a year now and finally today, our publication on govtech sees the light of day. We are very excited to present you this new govtech knowledge platform, for all those interested in the new entrepreneurial ecosystem focused on providing solutions to the great challenges of our public institutions.

Although GOBE was born in late 2021, our professional lives bumped into govtech ecosystems in 2018. Since then we have been pushing, learning and growing this new public innovation space. As of today, we run 4 govtech labs and develop as many specialized consulting projects and collaborations. Being in the implementation of so many projects and having such a clear focus on govtech, every day we design, test and improve methodologies and processes, which we believe can be useful for many. From Gobe Insights we would like to be able to share this knowledge with all of you, generate more interest in this space, and drive an optimal growth of these ecosystems.

There are several reasons that push us to publish what we learn:

• Gobe was born from a spin off of IE University, and the work developed from the PublicTech Lab. We incubated the govtech concept and our programs at the university, supported by international organizations such as CAF and IDB. We would like to continue working with the same philosophy and continue generating knowledge and making it available to all interested people.
• We have worked and continue to work in a network, so many of our methodologies are the joint effort of many other people who worked with us or who continue to support us from outside. The work of Bea Belmonte or Sofia Silva was at the origin of what we are, and Edu, Ester, Jimena, Carlos, Fran, and Javier accompany us on this path.
• We believe it is important to make visible the potential of govtech, and what is and what is not govtech. We strongly believe in the potential of govtech to transform our public institutions, but there is a danger that this space will be applied in a market-driven way, trivialized, and end up being just another fad. The more actors we defend this space, collaborating and generating standards and objectives, the more sustainable the impact will be.
• Finally, knowledge is our great competitive advantage. We are a small govtech innovation studio that competes with large consulting firms in public tenders. We want to be the reference of govtech knowledge, and show institutions that specialization matters, and that there is another way of doing projects in the administration.

• Invited firm: here we take the license to expand the focus, and invite people with interesting things to tell in disciplines very close to govtech such as design, data, futures. If you are interested in collaborating as a firm we would be delighted!

We are already generating content, we just need you to sign up, read us, give us your comments and together, we will generate the first community of practice of these characteristics. Welcome to the govtech world!
